Java Application Server Administrator III or IV Portland, OR or Seattle, WA Bring your knowledge of JAVA to the following role: Participate in a team environment installing, configuring and supporting Regence’s Web Infrastructure including Java Application Server and Web Servers such as Web Sphere Application Server, Tomcat, Sun Java Systems Web Server & Apache. Provide technical, interpersonal and administrative skills in performing day to day work. Expected duties include but are not limited to; software installation, upgrade, and patches; troubleshooting; performance tuning; and documentation. In this position it is essential that RITS departmental policies and procedures be adhered to. Those include, but not limited to; technical and architecture standards, production implementation standards, regular status reporting, regular participation in team meetings, regular one on one meetings with supervisor and team lead, and providing work estimates and regular time tracking. Combine your degree and experience with the following skills: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field; Appropriate additional experience beyond the minimum required experience may be substituted for education. 5 years of relevant experience in a multi-platform environment. 2 years experience with Java Application Servers including Web Sphere & Tomcat. 2 years experience with Web Servers including I Planet / Sun Web Servers & Apache. 2 years of UNIX administration experience including AIX, Solaris and/or Linux. Must be able to automate tasks through shell scripting, Jython/Python and/or Perl. Experience with J2EE Development Concepts, LDAP Directory Servers, JMS/MQ Series & Open SSO a plus. Experience with Open Source Software including the processes to build, deploy and maintain them a plus. Must understand how applications interface with infrastructure. Demonstrated understanding of basic network infrastructure including DMZs, load balancers and firewalls and how they apply to applications and projects. Demonstrated experience translating business needs into technical solutions. Demonstrated experience in developing product standards. Demonstrated ability to evaluate new technologies and lead the adoption of these technologies by successfully applying them to technological and/or business needs. Demonstrated experience interfacing with vendors to solve product problems and driving the vendor to resolution in a timely manner. Ability to work with other technical teams to troubleshoot problems. Must be able to work effectively with other team members, work with minimum direction and plan own work. Ability to take direction from others in analyzing and solving ability to plan and document medium to large product upgrades.
